Growing number of Australians getting tattoos contributing to blood donation plunge
A jump in the number of Australians getting tattoos is contributing to a plunge in blood donations.
The Red Cross has recorded a 30 per cent drop in the number of donors over the last seven years.
It’s pointing to the six-month delay in people who’ve been inked being allowed to donate.
‘That’s due to the increased risk of infection,’ Shaun Inguanzo, from the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, told Ross and John.
‘The one we’re most worried about would be Hepatitis C.’
