GWS midfielder Lachie Whitfield accused of hiding from drug testers

Former No.1 draft pick Lachie Whitfield has been accused of hiding from drug testers in May last year.

It’s understood the Giants midfielder was helped by former club officials Graeme Allan and Craig Lambert.

It has been alleged the 22-year-old midfielder was concerned about the possibility of failing an illicit drug test.

GWS says it is ‘cooperating fully with the AFL’ and its investigation.

But the matter is now in the hands of ASADA.

If found guilty, the trio face bans of up to four years.

‘My understanding is that all three are in a huge amount of trouble,’ Caroline Wilson said on 3AW’s Sports Today.

‘And it’s probably the club officials that seem to have just completely bungled what could have been, at worst, a possible drug strike.’
