GWS recruiter Paul Brodie banned over AFL bet
Greater Western Sydney recruiter Paul Brodie has resigned immediately after being caught betting on a game the Giants played in.
Brodie has been banned for 13 months after the AFL revealed he placed a $100 multi on five matches in round 19 last season.
In a statement, Brodie said he had made a terrible mistake.
‘I have made a mistake which has let the club down, let down my family and friends, and let myself down,’ the statement read.
‘I am very sorry for the lack of respect I have shown for the rules and principles that maintain the integrity of our game.
‘I will accept whatever sanction is imposed on me as an appropriate penalty. I have learned a serious lesson and hope others can also learn from my mistake.’
The highly-regarded recruiter had recently been linked with a move to Carlton.
His ban expires on December 1, 2016.
