Hair salons the target of bizarre smash and grab trend

3AW Mornings has uncovered a bizarre smash and grab trend developing across Melbourne.

The crooks are targeting hair salons.

In the past few weeks, Neil Mitchell has been contacted by half a dozen businesses who have been broken into.

It’s what they’re stealing that’s got victims stumped.

“What I found really odd was that they just went through every cupboard, every bin and even our refrigerator and stole used hair dryers and equipment – our scissors,” Sandy Mackie from Zanik hair design explained.

“It’s really strange.

“These scissors are worth a lot of money, but only a hairdresser knows that.

“Who wants used blow wavers?

Sandy’s Camberwell store was hit in the early hours of Thursday morning.
