A 35-year-old hairdresser is taking her bid to have a baby online because she says her biological clock is ticking and time is running out.

Ilaina McKenzie told Neil Mitchell she’s a romantic, but finding the right man just hasn’t happened.

She’s signed up to a website to help facilitate meeting someone to father a child, and says there’s health benefits to a natural insemination.

‘I’ve been dating men and looking to get into a serious relationship and have a family, so it’s not worked out,’ she said.

‘I’m kind of running out of time.’

It might not be traditional, but Ms McKenzie says she is really ready to have a baby.

‘It’s not a fairytale life, is it?!’ she joked.

‘I’m hoping to find romance, I’d like to take the focus off having a child.’
