‘Hands off our events!’: Shane McInnes and Basil Zempilas exchange playful barbs over Perth’s event strategy

It’s been reported this morning that Perth wants to emulate Melbourne’s major events strategy by poaching big sports, cultural and music events away from Melbourne over to Western Australia.

And Perth lord mayor Basil Zempilas and fill-in host on 3AW Afternoons Shane McInnes exchanged some playful barbs while speaking live on-air over the plans!

“Hands off our events!” McInnes told Zempilas.
