Hawthorn is ‘seriously’ considering making Jarryd Roughead captain this season, Mitch Cleary has revealed on Sportsday.

The popular forward recently got the all-clear to resume his AFL career after a battle with skin cancer.

Isaac Smith and Liam Shiels are also said to be in the mix to replace Luke Hodge in the role.

Jordan Lewis had been considered a strong contender to be the next captain of the Hawks, but is now with Melbourne.
