Hay fever a problem of civilised societies

If you’re complaining about hay fever, you might want to take a step back and count your blessings. 

Professor Jo Douglass of the Royal Melbourne Hospital told Tom Elliott allergies are a ‘First World problem.’

‘It’s a problem of civilised and wealthy societies,’ Prof Douglass said. 

‘Things like tuberculosis tend to make people less allergic.’

Tom said he’d prefer hay fever.
