Healthcare providers call for life-saving medical device in workplaces
State governments are being urged to make defibrillators mandatory at workplaces and public buildings to aid those who experience cardiac arrest.
Chief Medical Officer at the Heart Foundation and Cardiologist, Professor Garry Jennings, says defibrillators are not difficult to use and could increase survival rates if more accessible.
“It’s something that’s been introduced in South Australia.. and we know that survival after cardiac arrest outside hospital is not high, and it’s increased very much if people have a defibrillator available,” he said.
