RUMOUR CONFIRMED

A Melbourne Cup song which is more than 40 years in the making has finally been released.

Peter Liddell started writing the song in 1978. After he passed away, his friend Warren Smith finished the song as a tribute to his late friend.

“I wanted to get it out to his mum initially, actually, who is in her 90s now,” he told Ross and Russel.

Mr Smith recently performed ‘The Greatest Race of All’ for the Victorian Racing Club (VRC), and they loved it! He’ll now be performing it during the Spring Racing Carnival.
