A close friend of a young hit-run victim has issued a heartfelt plea for anyone with information to come forward.
Stacey Matthews, 24, was left with serious injuries after she was struck and knocked off her bike on Gisborne-Melton Road in Toolern Vale on Saturday afternoon.
Neighbour Shirley called Neil Mitchell and said the person who hit Stacey shouldn’t be on the roads.
‘I have known her all her life, she’s a nurse,’ she said.
‘She spent all of her working life helping other people and now she needs the public’s help in finding the man who hit her and left her for dead.’
Stacey has been recovering in hospital and has today undergone surgery.
‘It’s important to everyone, this person should not be on the road,’ she said.
The vehicle believed to be involved in the accident was found burnt out after a police appeal.
Police are searching for the driver of the car, who is believed to be Caucasian, possibly with a shaved head and tattoos.
