A western suburbs icon is changing hands after more than six decades.

Keith Prentice’s grandmother and a great aunt arrived in Melbourne from Scotland in 1950 and headed to Yarraville to establish the Heather Dell Bakery in Anderson Street.

For 65 years the store’s mouth-watering treats such as the Swiss pineapple cake, award-winning pies and fruit tarts have delighted locals and attracted travellers.

But the keys to the business will be handed over to new owners this week.
