Heavy delays around Swan St due to bridge upgrades

Real time monitoring of the first day of the Swan Street bridge works shows heavy delays on Swan Street, Alexandra Avenue, Punt Road, Domain Road and Batman Avenue this morning.

City-bound traffic travelling from the sports precinct over the bridge toward the city is down to just one lane for the next three months as the footpaths are removed.

Peter Todd from VicRoads told 3AW’s Ross and John they’re using the traffic lights to ease the pain.

‘We’ve got a dedicated team that’s monitoring the situation, adjusting the lights as we see traffic flowing through there.

‘So we’re trying to give people the best journey we can,’ Mr Todd said on 3AW Breakfast.
