Paramedics say had it not been for the help of by-standers, a 44-year-old man who went into cardiac arrest while running to work may not have survived.

Damien Sorenson, 44, was on a health and fitness kick in a bid to drop some kilos ahead of his wedding when he collapsed near Batman Avenue Bridge last Thursday.

Paramedics arrived within minutes, however, five people stopped to help and had already begun CPR.

Andy Watson from Ambulance Victoria says that help made all the difference.

Mr Watson and Damien’s fiance Sascha joined Neil Mitchell on Thursday.

They want to find those people!
