Hero policeman delivers baby by the side of the road

A Mill Park Policeman has spoken of his experience delivering a baby by the side of the road.

Senior Constable Jamie Mackenzie told Tom Elliott he had initially pulled the woman over because her car boot was open.

‘We got her out of the car, laid some blankets down for her,’ he said.

‘My partner spoke to the paramedics, they gave us some advice over the phone.’

He said the whole experience only took a minute.

‘You just do what you have to do,’ he said.

Mr Mackenzie joked he was hoping to be honoured for his help.

‘Hopefully I might get an honourable mention. Maybe a middle name!’
