Hero truckie stops petrol station robbery

A hero truckie and his son have been praised for attacking an armed robber at a 7-11 in Melbourne’s west.

Video footage obtained by 7 News shows Peter hitting the man with a crowbar at the Yarraville service station. 

When police arrived they ran after the man on foot, but the offender managed to flee in a ute. 

Peter has told 3AW Breakfast his son then got behind the wheel of a police car to give chase.

‘Every time I hit him he was just laughing at me.

‘He was like a machine,’ Peter told Ross and John. 

Police have now caught the alleged offender who remains in custody, thanking Peter and his son for their help.
