Heroic neighbour saves family from burning home in Melbourne’s west

A heroic man has saved three of his neighbours from a fire which destroyed their home in Melbourne’s west overnight.

Liam Oakley called emergency services when he saw flames coming from a home on Carinya Boulevard in Burnside just after midnight, and ran into the home where he found an elderly woman and two men.

The blaze took about 30 firefighters more than an hour to bring under control. Fire investigators remain on the scene this morning, it’s not yet known what caused the fire.
