High inflation ‘highlighted issues with HECS’ according to professor

A professor has hit out at the recent news regarding HEC’s refunds, saying it doesn’t address the problems with the scheme.

Professor of Higher Education Policy at the Australian National University, Andrew Norton, says the scheme is sound.

“I think this period of high inflation has highlighted an issue that people didn’t think about – that this debt can spiral upwards,” he told Tom Elliott.
