Rinky Hijikata has told Neil Mitchell he plans to continue playing with Jason Kubler after the pair won the men’s doubles at the Australian Open.

The pair, who received a wildcard entry to this year’s tournament, defeated Monaco’s Hugo Nys and Poland’s Jan Zieliński 6-4, 7-6 in the final on Saturday night.

They hadn’t played together prior to the tournament.

“We’re planning to play with each other as much as we can for the rest of the year,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“Looking forward to that, I think that should get us in the rest of the (grand) slams which we’re really looking forward to.

“And hopefully some of the other bigger tournaments to which I can’t wait for.”
