Senator Derryn Hinch says he’s drinking again because he has to have a life.

Mr Hinch, 74, was rushed to the Alfred hospital on Monday night after falling from an Uber and losing consciousness outside his home.

He says he had two glasses of wine on the night, but denies he’s an alcoholic.

Mr Hinch, a one-time 3AW Drive presenter, swore off alcohol after a liver transplant in 2011.

But today he told Neil Mitchell he’s changed his mind.
