Holocaust survivor Nina Bassat admits she was hurt by pro-Palestine protesters disrupting Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve.

Multiple people entered the stage during the evening, with hosts David Campbell and Sarah Abo calming the crowd in the immediate aftermath.

The 84-year-old says the much-loved event wasn’t the “time or place” to protest against the ongoing war in the Middle East.

“It hurt me because (Carols by Candlelight) is a religious ceremony that meant a lot to a lot of people,” she told Nick McCallum on 3AW Drive.

“It was not the time or place to disrupt that sort of worship and communal coming together. If you’re going to fight for a cause, do something meaningful.”
