Homicide Squad head allays fears of a rise in homicides

Several homicides in Victoria in early 2016 have sparked concerns that murder is on the rise.
Head of the Homicide Squad, Detective Inspector Mick Hughes, told Neil Mitchell that isn’t the case.
Mr Hughes said the statistics have remained steady over the years.
‘They are reported in the media a lot, so there’s certainly an appearance that we’ve been far more active,’ he said.
He also said more murders happen on a Sunday night than any other.
