Hoon motorcyclist arrested after dangerous chase through nine suburbs
A man is expected to be charged and his motorbike destroyed following a wild pursuit in Melbourne’s north.
The 21-year-old Thomastown man was one of three riders on unregistered dirt bikes who gestured at police and revved their engines at Epping yesterday afternoon.
All three fled at speed, but the airwing managed to locate the Thomastown man.
Officers watched on in horror as the dirt bike rider allegedly crossed onto the wrong side of the road, ran red lights and narrowly missing pedestrians on bike paths.
The man was tracked through Thomastown, Epping, Somerton, Roxburgh Park, Coolaroo, Dallas, Broadmeadows, Coburg and Reservoir.
He rode through Fawkner Cemetery and even onto the train tracks, and was eventually arrested when he ran out of fuel in Reservoir.
The 21-year-old fled on foot and was arrested while hiding in a garden bed.
He’s expected to face a string of serious charges, while the dirt bike has been impounded and will be destroyed under hoon laws.
