Hospital patient arrested after allegedly assaulting three nurses

A hospital patient has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted three nurses overnight.

The incident happened at a Footscray public hospital.

3AW Drive received a tip on Thursday, which police confirmed.

One of the injured nurses has suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

The man will undergo a mental health assessment.

Western Health said it was providing support to staff and investigating the matter.
