Claims that roughly 20 per cent of the time people spend at work is being wasted are “a little conservative” and the true figure is probably higher, says a leader on business management.

It comes on the back of debate about the merits of a four-day working week.

Professor Gary Martin, CEO of the Australian Institute of Management, told Tom Elliott it wasn’t always employee-driven and micro-management and unnecessary meetings also played a key part in the inefficient use of time.
