A construction worker who spent months avoiding getting vaccinated against COVID-19 says he thought he was going to die while he spent 14 days in hospital battling the coronavirus.

He also infected his two daughters.

Nathan Chellia told 3AW he tested positive on August 29.

He said, at the time, he didn’t think COVID-19 was anything to worry about.

“It was a silly mistake,” Mr Chellia said.

“I’ve been through hell. At one point, I thought I was going to die.”

His message to those protesting in the city?

“Please, go back home and get vaccinated,” he said.
