How a taxi ‘loophole’ will be addressed ahead of the Grand Prix
Taxi drivers are legally allowed to negotiate a fare with potential customers, but a “loophole” allows these drivers to charge as much as they like, which worries senior 13cabs spokesman David Samuels ahead of the Grand Prix on the weekend.
Over 400,000 people are expected to attend the Grand Prix at Albert Park, with Mr Samuels looking to put measures in place to stop the taxi loophole from occurring.
“We’re asking the state government to investigate this issue further and tidy up some of those loopholes to stop some of this behaviour,” Mr Samuels told Tom Elliott.
