Screening for vitamin C levels as part of diabetes management could help reduce the risk of complications associated with the disease.

A Deakin University researcher has published a comprehensive review of evidence the vitamin helps control the disease.

Lecturer in nutrition science at the Deakin University’s Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Dr Shaun Mason, says the evidence is “fairly … convincing that people with diabetes, particularly type two diabetes, do have an increased risk of vitamin c deficiency”.
