How Collingwood plans to avoid premiership hangover in 2024

Wide World of Sports

Collingwood veteran Scott Pendlebury says the reigning premiers are intent on improving as they plot their premiership defence.

The Pies will open their 2024 campaign against GWS as part of the AFL’s new Opening Round, before returning to Melbourne the following week.

Pendlebury says Collingwood will try and avoid comparisons with their 2023 season as they look to go back-to-back.

“I feel like when a lot of sides when they win it, the next year they are always comparing themselves to what they were,” he told Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.

“I don’t think that’s the right approach, When I used to watch Hawthorn, Geelong and Richmond (during the premiership-winning eras), they just got better every year.”
