How Georgie Purcell ‘blew up’ a council’s emails (and how the mayor reacted)
Two Victorian upper house MPs have this week discovered they’ve got a history of “battling” with each other.
Liberal MP Joe McCracken was a Colac-Otway Shire mayor when Animal Justice Party MP Georgie Purcell, who was chief of staff to an upper house MP at the time, orchestrated an email campaign which shut down the Colac-Otway Shire’s email system.
“I didn’t realise because normally state MPs will have this rule to filter out emails but obviously your email system wasn’t as sophisticated yet so we shut down the whole system!,” Georgie told Neil Mitchell.
