The number of workers in Melbourne offices continues to rise, with CBD office occupancy now at 48 per cent.

It’s a 12 per cent jump from occupancy levels in April.

But Melbourne is still lagging behind Sydney, where office occupancy is at 55 per cent.

Victorian executive director of the Property Council of Australia says it’s “not where we want to be” but the boost is “good news”.

“What’s been done is working but we still have more to do,” she told Ross and Russel.

“We are seeing real progress and that progress is driven because employers are giving their people options and choices … where they want to come into the office.

“Businesses that are smart are having good conversations about what works for the business and what works for the people.”
