How Neil Mitchell saved the Abbotsford Convent

Neil Mitchell has saved the Abbotsford Convent from almost $300,000 in taxes which threatened its future.

The Convent was going to have to pay a tax on its carpark, but Victoria’s Treasurer told Neil on Wednesday that the Convent would be exempt.

CEO of the Convent Maggie Maguire thanked Neil and everyone who had lobbied the government to achieve the outcome.

Ms Maguire said the tax was ‘just nuts’ and the future of the Convent now looks bright.

‘It’s secured us for a lot longer than ‘another day’,’ she said.
