Novak Djokovic will stay in Melbourne until at least Monday after launching a last-minute bid in the Federal Circuit Court to stop his deportation before the start of the Australian Open.

Judge Anthony Kelly called for more documentation and  initially adjourned until 4pm, before standing down the case again until 6pm.

A more substantive hearing will take place on Monday.

The appeal would need to be heard and finalised by Tuesday in order for the world number one to play in the Australian Open.
