How police plan on combating the ‘most dangerous’ month on Victorian roads
We’ve just entered the most dangerous month on Victorian roads for the year.
And it’s predominantly driven by the “big five” factors, according to police – speed, impairment, seatbelts, distraction and fatigue.
Motorcycle deaths have also traditionally peaked at this time of year.
Victoria Police has launched Operation Engage to combat the issue.
“The weather is good, it’s the end of the summer and people are out and about,” Glenn Weir, Assistant Commissioner Road Policing, said when asked why March was particularly dangerous on the roads.
“We’ve got the Grand Prix, Moomba – there is lots going on.”
