Cyber security professionals have advised mobile phone users to assume any message or call they receive from an unknown number is a scam.

Many 3AW listeners, as well as staff, have reported a huge spike in receiving dodgy messages and calls.

David Lacey, managing director at ID Care, said it wasn’t surprising.

“That’s the world we unfortunately live in,” he said.

Mr Lacey explained how scammers and spammers preyed on people.
