How the Geelong refinery fire is likely to impact fuel supply

An energy analyst says Victorians should prepare to “feel the pinch” after a fire at the fuel refinery that supplies half of the state’s fuel.

A serious fire broke out at the Viva Refinery in Geelong, one of only two remaining fuel refineries in the country, overnight.

Energy analyst at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, Kevin Morrison, told 3AW’s Tom Elliott the impact is “probably” catastrophic.
