The road toll could be reduced by at least 20 per cent if speed limiters are fitted into new cars, according to the NSW Road Safety Research Unit.

California is considering introducing a bill which would see all new cars built from 2027 fitted with a device which would prevent vehicles going over a certain speed.

“These systems have already been trialed in New South Wales,” Professor Raphael Grzebieta from the University of New South Wales told 3AW Mornings.
