A piece of footy history has been bought for $15,000 by a generous 3AW listener.

All of that money will go to Very Special Kids.

Neil Mitchell auctioned off a ball, signed by 13 of Melbourne’s captains, both living and no longer with us.

It was signed in 2008.

Cherie supports the Bombers but said she would be giving the ball to her son’s friend.

“He’s had a bit of a rough trot, I’m not going to get too emotional here, but this is for him,” she said.
