How toxic fruit is getting parrots ‘drunk’ in Australia’s north-west
Parrots in Australia’s north-west are causing chaos after getting “drunk” on fermented mangoes.
There are reports of the birds flying into windows and being on the ground unable to move from the ethanol they’ve consumed after eating the fallen fruit in the hot Kimberley sun.
Lee Stone, Avian trainer and behaviourist consultant, said it was a concern because it left the birds vulnerable to predators and other dangers.
