‘Huge amount of smoke’ causes Monash Freeway mayhem

A grass fire is causing delays for motorists.

Plumes of smoke are affecting visibility on the Monash Freeway, outbound between Glenferrie and Toorak roads.

Only one lane is getting through and the speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h.

Chris Miller from the Department of Transport says there’s a “huge amount of smoke”.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Emergency services are on the scene. The fire is under control.
