Hundreds of CFA volunteers hand in uniforms as protest escalate

DRIVE TIME TIP
20 CFA firetrucks have driven up the main street in Colac in a lights-and-sirens demonstration against more taxes and lack of drought support.
Up to 300 CFA volunteers handed in their uniforms on Friday as part of a protest against the government’s emergency servicies levy.
Press PLAY to hear Lachie’s first-hand account of the protest
Lachie told 3AW Drive the government was taking advantage of close-knit regional communities.
“We drove back from the protest and 2km down the road (there was a fire),” he said on 3AW.
“The government is playing on our kindness and what we do in our community.”
