Hundreds woken by malfunctioning alarm from ship on Port Phillip
It’s the last thing you want on a Monday morning – being woken up early.
But that’s exactly what happened to many residents by the bay due to a malfunctioning alarm on a ship on Port Phillip.
The distress signal – seven long toots before one short – rang out shortly after 5am for roughly 30 minutes.
Residents from Port Melbourne to Newport, and even as far as South Yarra, reported being woken by the noise.
