A new study has found dogs can understand what we say and how we say it.

Hungarian researchers have found dogs love praise but only if owners used meaningful words like ‘Good boy/girl’ said in a happy and positive tone.

Ross and John spoke with Attila Andics, neuroscientist and brain researcher from E?tv?s Lor?nd University, Hungary.

‘We found how they process speech is somehow very similar to how humans process it.’

‘They use the left hemisphere to process what we say and the right hemisphere involvement for how we say it.’ ? Attila told 3AW Breakfast.
