In a decision which has surprised some, the Family Court has ruled a husband can keep the entire fortune he won playing Tattslotto while settling a divorce case.

The man won $1 million during the first year of a decade-long marriage, with the court deciding he could keep it all on the grounds he chose the numbers, purchased the ticket and, most importantly, cashed the cheque into his personal bank account.

The woman received just $51,000.

But as Family Law Specialist Carolyn Counsel explained, once you learn more about the case, it’s not a surprise.

‘Once you hear the man’s story, you realise the court got it right,’ she told Ross and John.
