Almost 66,000 international students and temporary workers are set to have their stays in Australia extended, with more COVID work visas being granted in Labor’s first 10 months in power, than the amount issued during the pandemic.

Immigration expert Abul Rizvi suspects the Albanese government fears employment numbers will collapse.

“I can’t see the rationale,” Mr Rizvi told Ross and Russel.
