‘I didn’t filter a thing’: Michael Clarke defends tone of new book

Sportsday

Former Australian test captain Michael Clarke has defended the tone of his new book, which criticises former team mates and coach John Buchanan.

Speaking to Sports Today, Clarke said there was a ‘big difference’ between writing a diary and an autobiography.

‘I didn’t filter a thing,’ he added. ‘I think that’s part of writing an Ashes diary.’

‘I was dictaphoning my thoughts every single day morning and night and with that comes emotion.’

In a wide-ranging interview with Sam McClure, Clarke said new captain Steve Smith had his full support.

‘He knows if he needs me I’m one phone call away.’
