Judy Hewson, friend of Narelle, said she was “horrified” after being told by Jetstar her friend would be forced to climb stairs on crutches or she would miss her flight.

Jetstar has contacted them and now allowed Narelle to use the lift.

“I still feel like we’re being discriminated against,” Ms Hewson said on 3AW Drive.

Managing director of Push Mobility and disability advocate, Shane Hryhorec, them slammed the “absolutely appalling” story.

“The airlines in Australia are pretty much disgraceful,” Mr Hryhorec said.
