Australian cricket greats Ian Chappell and Dean Jones have questioned Mitchell Johnson’s future.

The pair of Macquarie Radio commentators agreed the champion quick had endured a ‘horror match’ against New Zealand in Perth.

Johnson said prior to the match he thought about retirement ‘all the time’ but was still enjoying his cricket.

But Chappell said that was never a good sign.

‘Once you start talking about retirement, it’s not far away,’ he explained on Macquarie Radio.

‘Particularly when you’re talking about it publicly.’

Jones agreed Johnson looked a shadow of his former self.

‘He’s had a horror match, hasn’t he?’ Jones said.

‘He hasn’t been the same ? he hasn’t looked right the whole innings.’
