IBAC finds ‘tolerance’ to ‘predatory’ behaviour within Victoria Police
Women experiencing family violence have been targeted by “predatory” Victoria Police officers, the state’s corruption watchdog has found.
An Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission review has found gaps in how Victoria Police addresses misconduct allegations.
“In some of the investigation files we’ve reviewed that there’s been an acceptance or tolerance by management of misconduct occurring over a period of time,” IBAC deputy commissioner Kylie Kilgour told Neil Mitchell.

“We do still see some discipline outcomes that really aren’t up to the standards of dealing with the seriousness of the misconduct.”
IBAC has made recommendations to Victoria Police to reduce predatory behaviour and strengthen internal investigations, which the police force has accepted.
