Ian Chappell had still been processing the passing of his old teammate and great friend Rodney Marsh when he heard news of Shane Warne’s death.

Chappell had attended a function in the city on Thursday where he managed to catch up with some of his old team mates and mourn the loss of Marsh.

“We’ve had a bit of a drink for Rodney as he would want us to, and that was bad enough,” he told Bruce Eva and Tim Lane on 3AW.

“It’s all well and good to have a drink … for Rodney, but you’d rather not be doing it in those circumstances, so that was difficult.

“But now I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do.”
